UI have an 83 w150 4x4 it does not have the vaccume conyrolled four wheel drive. I bought an 85 dodge for parts. It has the vaccume controll four wheel drive i need to use those axles i was wondering if there is a way to take the vaccume off and make it like the old style so all i have to do is just turn the lockouts and put it in four wheel and go?

I would think you could just switch the hubs,

are you sure your 83 did not have a vacuum control on the axle at one point? does it have manual hubs? the only reason i ask is because i think they switch in the early 80's. you can lock the axle and bolt a cover plate onto the axle but you usually want manual locking hubs or else your front axles are always spinning

There is no plate on it and it has manual lock outs. This new truck has manual lockouts and vaccume actuator. I was tolb by a guy i just have to pull the actuator out and put the non vaccume axle shaft in and locl outs but not for sure?

Im wanting it to work like a non vaccume axle. Lock outs unlocked tires spin free and drive shaft dont spin tgen lock outs locked tires and drive shaft both spin.
