5.0 - 8.4AN thanks to everyone....

last nite i installed my new to me 8.4AN and it was a breeze to install and everything is working correctly. i just have to get used to the new radio and functions.

all the parts for this swap cost me $ 675.00.

now just have to install my new oem kicker speakers and steering wheel controls.

after reading all the threads on this swap i just had to do it. originally i was going to buy the kit from OEM but this is so much nicer.

Glad you decided to go that way. Your gonna love it when you get used to.it. one suggestion is to make sure your Firmware is up to date on your radio. They have made a lot if enhancements on these radios........Enjoy!

thanks Rick, regarding upgrading the firmware do i need to purchase the thumbdrive from mopar ? haven't seen a how to regarding the firmware.

if you or someone could let me know i would appreciate it.

No you can do it yourself. If you go to the Uconnect website and scroll to updates. Type in the Vin# of the truck your radio came out of and it will tell you if there is an update for your truck and what the number is. It is free all you have to do is download it to a USB stick plug it into your USB port in your console and load it in the radio. I think the latest one was 15. Something I can't remember exactly . If you go into the settings on your radio to system information it will tell you what Firmware you are running. If it's not up to date just download the firmware and install it.

I have updated my Firmware several times in my RA4 that I installed along with many other members who have the RA4 that didn't come in there truck. I was even able to update my maps with no issues.

It will work. Once the unlock code is in, the radio pairs to the new truck. Uconnect however does not update their end though which is why when you use their update service you have to use the donor truck's VIN.

I just ordered mine through OEM. I like that I know its in working condition and I got their volume control added. I like that it comes with the adapter for plug and play as well as the new face plate.
It's awesome you found everything for that price!! I hate looking for crap so if I can get it all in 1 place I'm there...

Don't do it...just look through the DIY thread. You'll get a much better price and they are not hard to find.
