Im sorry to inform you that you are getting ready for a 4500. dollar repair for new cam and lifters. They will probably put you off till after the warranty is up. That's what happened to me. Go on utube and type 5.7 hemi ram cam failure

Hey Blue you seam like a new poster here, hopefully you tell your story, we all are on your side. This forum has at least one member a month get a wiped out Cam and lifters. If you make a thread on it post as much info as you can, including what oil you used and your maintenance, how the dealer heaped or didn't whatever. Year of truck and mileage, all info is needed. Thanks, Burla

Just dropped off my truck at dealer. I told them about the broken bolt on passenger side. Rep told me they don't mess with machine/planing, rather they just replace the whole manifold. They are also going to check the driver side for broken bolts.

Of course they "do not recommend aftermarket gaskets", and it would be 2hrs labor to change the gasket on the driver side if they don't find any broken bolts. I left the Remflex gaskets in the back seat for them to use on both sides... Waiting for them to call with what they've found.

Worth $315 ($35 parts+$280 labor) for the Remflex install???

EDIT
: Guess the dealer didn't want my money and/or the "risk" of aftermarket parts mucking up their supposed 1yr workmanship warranty... They didn't even call me to consult about the Remflex, just QUICKLY installed a new passenger side manifold, oem gasket, and bolts. Got my truck back in less than 5 hours.

Lifter tick usually will stick around on hot idle, but the exhaust seals warm up and "can" make the tick go completely away. Now, nothing is 100% on this, some truck will get dry starts. But that is not nearly as dangerous as hot idle tick for long term. Still, the oil industry uses molybdenum for dry starts, use a high moly oil just in case. The singe additive out there will good chemistry is lubeguard's biotech, an oil soluble moly like the ones they use in PCMO.

Question, what are both of your trucks doing when you come back from any trip at idle? Is it ticking?

Now that draws my interest. It seems I experienced dry start once after my truck was sitting maybe 2 months. Man I was scared what happened. The other day it started and ran normal. Any thought what cause this? I assume oil drains from lifters.

From my experience, it is better to use old warped one, get that machined. It won't warp again as a new one will for sure.

I tried, believe me. The dealer wasn't cooperating at all, it was their way or the highway. They must have 100 of those new oem manifolds on the shelf ready to go. My 5yr power train warranty is up in 10 days, and they obviously wanted me gone with the least amount of effort.

If it just happened once and never again, I'd likely just forget about it. But, if it happens more and more, look into molybdenum, that is what oil manufacturers use for dry starts. Make sure your oil has it, not all do. Most of the big ones do have it, top 4 oils used on ram forum poll all have it. Lubeguard makes an additive with the same moly used in PCMO's, oil soluble type, it's called biotech.

Passenger side repaired on Jan 31 and was covered by power train warranty. So much for them checking the driver side. Only 600 miles and 90 days later the driver side started the same issue. Of course the power train warranty had since expired when I took it back to the dealer. Left the truck there for 10 days while I went back and forth with FCA and the dealer, both saying they were "waiting on information" from each other. Finally, got word FCA would cover it and got my truck back yesterday with new driver side oem manifold/bolts/gasket.
