Got a text from a long time friend yesterday that something rather special would be taking place today at the local Chrysler dealership.

A machine that left the lot back in 1969 would be returning to Bayview Chrysler for a visit. The owner of the 69 Hemi Superbee/4-speed had done a beautiful restoration. Not only that but the original owner who drove the car off the lot back in 1969 would be in attendance. Talk about a “Time-machine moment”.

To double up the effect my friend brings out his 69 Hemi/4-speed Charger. It was a rather cool moment.

A few photos of the rather low key event attached.

Bad Ass cars! I would take either one of them.

My old Nova (1970 SS 396/375 -long gone sadly) was originally purchased at a local dealership in town here. It still sported their dealer emblem on the trunk lid (removed and put back after paint). I took it there once to buy some parts and came out to find a gaggle of salesman looking at it. I ended up spending more time there than I intended but it was fun.

Awesome cars! Unfortunately due to things like Barrett Jackson regular guys like us would have to sell our homes to scrape up enough cash to buy one with a HEMI. I bet even a nicely fixed up driver with a 383 would run you $25K and rust bucket with no drivetrain would probably run close to $10K. Too rich for my blood.

The Super Bee is what I affectionately call my "left nut car" as I would give one up in a heartbeat for one!
Mine would be a 69 Charger, but would happily take A GTX/ Daytona/ Super bird.

I fell like that about the '69 Road Runner. Or a (don't ridicule me too bad gents) '70 Buick GSX Stage 3

Road Runner: When the charger was going together,..a mere 20 feet away in the same shop was a 69, 440, Six Pak, 4 speed Road Runner build. It was quite a year for Mopar muscle in the circle of friends I was hanging out with. The parts and beer wagon (owned by the Road Runner builder) was a 1970 El Cameno SS, 396 4 Speed machine. At the same time as these cars were going together there was yet another piece of Mopar muscle being built a.k.a The “Rattle Trap” (1970 Coronet R/T that would be a mild 440 build with 4-gear that would do the Cannon Ball from Boston to San Diego with an average speed of around 76mph (which sounds slow but not when you consider that’s the “average speed” ...and no speeding tickets. I forget the time they did it in. It had aircraft type off road lights on the front..and a 90 gallon fuel cell in the rear. They ran it up to 90mph in the dark. The trucker c.b. chatter when they were coming up from behind the trucks at night was rather humorous as related post run.

Beautiful cars! I’m loving the super bee. A guy down the road from me has a white one that it looks like he might try fixing up. I’m just waiting to see the for sale sign on it!!
