So I’m looking for a single sub setup that will fit u see the rear driver side seat. Does anyone think this is possible? I’m just looking to add some bass to the sound quality of my aftermarket speakers, which sound really good. Any feedback appreciated. This includes the sub, box, amp, and all wiring. Thanks

I just spent about $600 on single 12" and an amp. Then I'll have $150 in a box and cabling.

And this is nothing earth shattering...

I have a fox box, and RE Audio SCX10, Knukonceptz 4 gauge wiring, an older Kicker ZX400.1. All around $500. I bought my sub for $90, the cheapest I've found. They normally go or around $140-150. You could probably get a FI alpha for $150 and I wish I would've waited for that, but it wasn't available when I bought the RE. The foxbox has an airspace of .95 cuft ported. Just find a sub that can function in that airspace. FI alpha, sundown e series, dc audio level 1&2, RE audio scx10, and I'm sure there are more that I didn't list.

ill Def say get a fox box, they are awesome! if you want a system on a budget, got to a pawn shop, you can usually find a good deal on amps there, i was looking for a low powered amp for a friends setup that was on a tight budget, i got a 400.1 fosgate amp for $60, and i later bought the amp from my friend and still have it to this day

as far as subs go, you can look into whats mentioned above, ive recently started playing around with SKAR audio, they have some really nice products for a damn good price too...

i was running some Kicker CVT shallow subs, and they were good for adding some bass.

since you are wanting to run a single sub, you are going to want to invest in a really good box for sure

I am not much of an audio junky but could you tell me how this setup would work if I ended up doing something like this: a 12 inch sub rated for 400w RMS with a max of 800w with a 500w amp to go with it. Does my amp need to be more powerful or is that too much wattage?? You seem to know what your talking about and would like to hear what you have to say about it. Thanks for the comment btw!

some will argue about how much power you need for each sub, ill use my 08 as an example because it has a system kind of like you describe (not gona blow your world but still gets the job done...

the 08 has 2 Skar audio 12s that are 250w RMS, and im running a Skar audio 350w RMS monoblock and it will shake the mirrors really well, i can open the doors and it sound really clear and loud, across the street you can feel the punch, which sounds like more than you are looking for...

if you are looking for a simple setup that should make you happy check this out...

https://www.skaraudio.com/products/skar-vd-12d2x1-qbdodgeqc112-rp3501d-ssk8

it says sold out but you can find these setups on ebay still in stock.

i can go on and on for days about all the different brands and stuff but this seems like a good starting point on something that should give you what you are looking for

How much did that setup in your ‘08 run you if you don’t mind saying? I’ve looked into Skar Audio and it seems legit. The reason I want only a single sub (most likely a 12 inch) is because I want some of my backseat for storage. I don’t want to totally lose that space.

That link is actually exactly what I’m looking for to a tee. Only problem is that it’s sold out unfortunately

I think i paid $200 for the subs and box from Skar, and the amp was a refurb from Skar that i paid $65, i already had my truck wired for a system so that was nothing, as far as storage goes, behind my sub box i have towels, 6 2" wide ratchet straps, a golf sized umbrella, all my tools for my jack and to be able to change a tire, some tow ropes and my jack, so you can still store some stuff behind the box.

Check for Skar stuff on ebay, you can sometimes find it there

Thanks a lot man this helped a ton. You might have changed my mind from a single to a double sub setup. I’m not too learned in the art of wiring these things up, though.

since you are doing what i would call budget. make sure to match the rms power of the sub to the rms power of the amp. and match the airspace needed of the sub to that of the box.

If it was me and i wanted to do a budget and have done this setup before.. a single JL w0 (about $120) a sealed box, and a 125-150 watt rms amp. Believe it or not it will sound great.

i have to agree with the Skar stuff. I bought a 4 channel (LPv2 80.4) $120, and a monoblock (LPv2 1000.1) $130 about a month ago. I know you are not looking for that much upgrade, but the LP-550.1 is $99.

If you go with a single 12 and a foxbox, make sure your airspace is adequate for it. The sealed foxbox sealed for a 12 is really small. That one is the driver side. The passenger side is a bit bigger with airspace, as it's ported, but you can get a decent sub for that enclosure. The thing with the sub and power, is if you get a sub that is 500 watts rms, you can get an amp with a little more power (600 watts rms). But, you have to know how to adjust the amp so you're not clipping it or overpowering your sub. The voltage from the headunit will give you an idea of what you'd be running to the amp. There are lots of tools out there to use to know how much you're putting out so you're not damaging your sub. You want a good clean output with no clipping. Go to youtube and search some videos on how to properly set up your amp.

The mentioned SKAR stuff seems to be really popular and they were one I forgot about as well. The prices are good, but I don't know how good the longevity of them are. I've read alot of mixed reviews that some have had good luck with them, and some get turds. But that's with pretty much anything you buy. It all comes down to what you're willing to spend. Just remember, you get what you pay for. Except JL. Decent stuff, way overpriced. Best of luck to you and hope you find what you're looking for.

I’m thinking about going with a Skar IVX12V2 12” Sub (400W RMS) with a Skar RP 350.1D Amp (350W RMS) and a passenger side fox box which will bring me up to $300 + tax. I’m not sure how to install these things so probably add another $150-$200 for install. How does this setup sound to you?

The RMS power is a good match. The fox box is a good choice.

You can get an amp kit for about $70.

How are you going to pull the signal for the amp?
