2019 with H/K system, it has the stock sub behind the rear Passenger seat. I am getting ready to order parts to replace that sub with a single 10", that will be installed in a custom yet-to-be-selected under-seat box from NetAudio .
I already have the amp. It is shown in pic below, a Kicker 400W CXA400.1. I had it in a Cadillac Escalade EXT that I recently sold. One of the main reasons I am re-using this amp is because it has a 1/8" mini-plug receptacle that is wired to a remote gain control (shown in pic below). This means I can adjust Bass on the fly.
Here's the thing: I listen to ALL kinds of music, even classical sometimes. Contemporary music has plenty of Bass, sometimes too much, so no problems there. But my favorite genre is probably classic rock & roll, most of which seems to have been produced with almost zero Bass or heavy drums. Hence the need for Bass adjustment on the fly.
So my question is: what type of box/sub combo should I get? Ported/sealed, and up-firing or down-firing? I don't need max power, I am looking for the "wall of sound" effect more than sheer noise, if that makes sense.
Thanks for any tips.
