My 2500 has the 5th wheel prep...so it IS offered, and it shows up on the 'build your own' site as well for 2024s.

Those who spring for it might not need the 5th wheel locations, but they may have a gooseneck they intend to pull with it, which is entirely possible to load so the truck stays under payload/rear axle ratings.
mine came with it too. I use a B&W 5th wheel hitch that fits in the factory pucks20230517_111547.jpg

When I was in the market, I saw so many 3500s on the lots.... with no prep installed. I always thought that was a huge oversight on the ordering dealer.
how do you like that curt hitch..how much does it weigh

I have that exact same one - and have learned I don't need it for the fifth wheel I occasionally have to move, I can leave it in the full-forward position and get well past 80° which is more than enough (it's my FIL's). As heavy as it is I used it all winter for weight in the bed, but I may get rid of it and buy the fixed setup, just for the weight savings and to make it easier to get in and out by myself.

Kinda hard to part with it yet though, since I only paid $800 for it used and it looks brand new. I know they're something like $1800 brand new.

If you want a good tow witout mucking with a heavy hitch, consider a Reese Goosebox or a Gen Y. Or... wait until Lippert releases their Curt Helux pinbox. Nothing to remove from the bed but a ball. :)
