Which is better for disabling MDS while doing city driving and occasional WOT runs?

Probably tow/haul. That mode holds gears longer and disables 6th gear.

If don't want the shift points altered, then use manual mode. You could use 4+- or 5+- around town too. Then just shift it manually when you want to get on it.

Using tow/haul also uses the engine to downshift which helps the brakes last longer.
Holding the gears longer is AS important as not shifting into its highest gear at every waking opportunity.

Thank for your advice, I like turning off mds while I drive around town and I would put it in 6 to do it. I recently heard tow/haul is better for the 6 speed tranny tho, so I wanted to start using that.

I use tow/haul in the city and 6th manual on the freeway.Seems to work good this way for my driving habits.

I've used both. I now just use 6 around town. The constant "non-smooth" shifting made me feel uncomfortable in tow-haul, and as we know these trannys have enough trouble of their own, didnt want to add to it.
