well i finally am back in a ram and picked up a 14 sport with 57k on the clock. I wanted to have the dealer do a full check up and whatever service is due. My question is since I have no history of what has been done and I have invested a small boat load of cash in my down payment I wanted to do a good service to ensure everything is fresh as I can not afford to have something fail due to lack of maintenance. I was thinking
1:brake flush
2: cooling flush or replace
3: I want to service the diffs and 4x4 but have no clue if I should and if so what to have done this is my first 4x4 ram .
4:my dealer offers a full diognostic for $150 is this bs or worth it
and also a cooling system check for $35
any info will help thanks

With 57k on the clock I don’t think much is needing to be done. Diffs are easy. I got my 2014 2500 with 74k on the clock. I changed Diffs and had trans serviced. I’m at 113k now I need to do plugs and stuff. They’re pretty reliable.

I honestly believe PS and brake flushes are a money grab on any vehicle that doesn't have like 200K plus miles or like 10-15 years old. When the PB booster goes bad it will get new fluid, when the PS pump wears out it will get fresh PS fluid not until unless they're low. 10 years or 100K miles for coolant for me and for light duty use 50K on transmission and diffs.

I've got a 14 with 49k miles now and I did my entire 4x4 system at 30k.

The front diff fluid was perfect so I won't touch it again till 100k. If anything I think I wasted my money changing that fluid so I suspect your's is fine too. The transfer case fluid looked okay but I would have changed it at 60k. The rear diff I am happy I changed. It looked a little worn. I bought the truck with 28k so I had only put 2k miles on it and I'm not sure if it was used to tow much at that point. I do tow a lot and will be replacing only my rear diff fluid at 60k and onward at 30k intervals.

As far as coolant I thought about changing that as well because it's five years old now but the owners manual says it's a 10 year coolant. With that in mind I think I will change mine next year at 6 years and check the water pump at that point too. I don't totally trust the 10 year thing.

Brake flush is up too you. My master brake cylinder failed so the dealer was forced to do a brake flush and bleed my entire braking system so I've got pretty fresh brake fluid in there.

The only other thing I will be doing in the transmission fluid and filter at 60k. The owners manual says lifetime fill but when you look up what the manufacturer of that transmission suggests it's like 62k mile service intervals or something so I think I will do that.

My 16 sport requires differential fluid change at 60k with normal use. Other than that, the rest is regular maintenance.

Re brake fluid change - once you do it (or get it done), you will feel a difference.

I think brake fluid performance degrades so slowly over time, you never really feel it....it just slowly creeps up to not performing as well.

Change out the fluid and you will "feel" what you were missing.

If you DIY stuff, pick up a Motive PowerBleeder and use it to change the fluid. On my cars I can pretty much flush out old and replace with new in about 20 minutes, not counting time to remove the wheels to get to the bleeder cap (if necessary...one of my cars I can contort enough to not even have to remove the wheels)

Most of the items you mentioned are 100k mile service items such as coolant and brake fluid. The manual is overly lenient on things including the tranny fluid. I would not lose sleep over it though. I would do the diff fluid and get some good oil in the engine and call it a day.

Congrats on the new truck Rockit. I would do: Rear diff fluid change, brake fluid change and synthetic oil & filter (o&f if not sure of last service).

I have a ‘14 w/ 65K and just had the brake fluid changed and it was a noticeable difference. I also changed my PCV valve. Coolant is good until 100K. Don’t pay the dealer $150 for the diagnostic and use that money towards an AGM Platinum battery and air filter you can install yourself.
