1969 727 from Dodge Charger, has street fighter trans kit, not sure about stall but think around 2500-3000.
When I got the truck, shifted as it should, hard shift points but seemed like correct rpms. Fast forward to today(pun intended lol) and when in drive, starts off in first, but will over rev unless you back off throttle and stab it again and will shift into 2nd, no matter what rpm it won't go into 3rd like it used to.
Before everyone goes into valve body etc I believe it's the kick down. first thing I found was the bushing for the shift rod popped out and corrected that, probably contributed tot he problem of placing in gear, no longer an issue, but, the kickdown linkage I discovered has broken, where it broke is the stud at the point between the mounting bracket and throttle ball stud, where you would make the adjustment, cable still connected to the carb, fed through the bracket but no adjustment. I thought after seeing this it would have acted like it was removed all together and shift all 3 gears extremely fast, not the symptoms I'm experiencing.
I know I need to replace the cable, but does the symptoms make sense??
example pic of cable section to the carb and arrow where broke;
