8.4 iPhone Text?

So I recently have driving my Ram due to just getting the lift put on a few weeks ago and enjoying it. Today I jumped in my Jeep Grand Cherokee and all of a sudden it announces I have a text message. I've had the Jeep since October and until now, I've never had anything go through. I have an iPhone 6+ and don't think I can voice text, but I was shocked that it is finally willing to read me texts or actually recognize the phone is getting them. Is this a new update that happened in the past few weeks?

I realize I'm asking about what's going on in my Jeep on a RamForum but I figure all 8.4 uconnect is the same regardless of the brand since it's all under FCA

what factory radio do you have in each vehicle?

It should have always worked like that if the phone was paired and on your iPhone,select Bluetooth settings click on the circled (i) then make sure notifications are Set to On.

both my old '13 and now '15 my iphone 6 will receive the text and speak it to me, but i cant respond. same thing with the 5.0 that is in my '15 chrysler 200

That's an Apple thing not uConnect. Apple will let your Iphone read them, but you cannot reply. I use Siri to reply if needed.

on the settings on your phone. bluetooth settings make sure "show notifications" is on

I guess it's possible I just wasn't getting texts while driving the past 2 months? Weird, all I know is it just started to randomly happen even though I always stream music through my phone using Bluetooth. I could care less about voice response...just didn't know if the actual reading them to you is newer or not. It is pretty funny to hear the voice say bad words when they show up from people.

Holy cow - never knew this! Checked the settings, and sure enough - Show Notifications was turned off on my phone.

How does this work anyways? I don't want my truck just spouting off random text messages if I have my folks in the truck or something. Is there an option to accept or deny the text or something?

If it pops up it'll ask you if you want the message read or ignored...just hit the ignore/close button and you'll be spared the potential embarrassment.

I use mine with a galaxy s3 and its fine..My lil beef is that the person who sends me the text and my time matches but what the alpine sysem shows is a few hrs ahead..Time has been set on the truck..Weird..

when i had my old s3 i noticed that also. plus it always add "sent by my ram" on the text also.

Turned it on... cool... turning back off lol. Got annoying super quick. If I could respond it may be a different story.

Using Iphone in 2016 Ram 2500 w/ Uconnect 8.4 AN radio & latest upgrades. I can send a text using voice only but my radio will not receive any texts or read them. The Ram online material says the Iphone is not compatible w/ 8.4 text receiving and reading. Who knows ?
