ive been used to having a column shifter on my previous ram, its taken me a while to get used to the knob shifter on my 16' 8 speed and not grab for a column shifter that isnt there.
My question is, what is the longevity of these shifter knobs? Has anyone have any issues with theirs?
Im just curious.

Took me a little while to get used to the knob shifter also. I have not heard of anyone having a failure with the knob. Should be as reliable as the column shifter.

There has actually been a recall on some of the column shifters so the knob isn't so bad right now. Even tho I've accidentally put my hand on it thinking it was the volume lol.

The only problem with the shift "Knob" is me wanting to beat the **** out of it with a hammer. A shifter belongs on the column or the floor---IMHO!!!!! That is why the longevity of mine is in question.

Someone just did a video review on here with a high mileage RAM and rotary shifter, said it far outlasted his previous shifter. If i find it i’ll Post a link

I cannot imagine a longevity issue with it...it's just a rotary knob like the volume on your radio.

My biggest ***** with the knob is not being able to take it out of park without starting the truck.

Wow! I never gave that a thought. Is there not a work around? What if ya have to tow it?

Look in the owners manual for how to pull the emergency release for the transmission. There is a lever under the removable cover on the lower left side of the dash.

As far as longevity, there's a truck with probably pushing 400K miles most of which are towing, no issues with the shifter or trans

my new 19 longhorn, takes 15 seconds or more to pick up drive, did it 4 times in 1200 miles, now mileage at 1800 has performed perfectly the last 600 miles, dealer could not duplicate my problem.
