8 speed and 4.10s?

Has anyone installed 4.10s in a truck that's an 8 speed? I'm really wanting to put either 3.92s or 4.10s if i add long tubes. I've ran a best 13.55 with my 3.21s.

Well my 3.92's are pretty nasty! When I test drove trucks I drove a 3.21 and a 3.92. From a stop the 3.21 would chirp the tires, the 3.92 would light the tires up! It was an easy choice to order the 3.92's after that lol

Talk to the GM guys that tried 4.56's with the 6 speeds.

Basically same effective ratio as 3.92's with the 8 speeds.

4.10's are considered max effort for NA and like running 3.55's in a 8 speed.

GM guys have been there, done that. The 3.92's are hype and to much gearing.

I'll be a guinea pig. I get the gears pretty cheap and doing the install myself so it's not like I'll be out of a whole lot of money.

Tune, S&B, catch can, fan delete, 170 stat, true dual exhaust

I will lose some fuel mileage due to higher rpms at highway speeds.

That is not true. Your truck reads speed at the wheels and not the diff, so changing gears will not throw off your computer, transmission, or shifting. You will be very happy stepping up from those 3.21's.

I think he could hit 12s with just the 4.10 and slicks. Truck will be crazy fast come winter time.
