Parts list for those doing a 8hp70 swap and want to add a bypass heater or people doing a heater delete but want to keep the temps up some for cooler weather. This will need the existing thermostat block on the side of the trans and delete the heater and thermostat. If I remember correctly 2 - 3/16 threaded plugs were used to block the heater ports on the thermostat block. Per another member the thermostat block uses -8 ORB fittings to connect to the factory hard lines. I will try to confirm when I can. I chose a 145° bypass thermostat for mine. The next temp up is 160°. The temperature is your choice. Ram uses a 180° thermostat stock. I am using -8an hose and fittings. I am hoping as of right now that 180° u fittings will fit on the side of the trans. I have -8orb to -8an adapters for the top fittings of the thermostat block. Straight fittings into and out of the bypass thermostat. I will be using straight fittings at the hard line changeover connection. The bypass thermostat was offered with -10 orb fittings to a few different sizes but I opted for the -10orb to -8an thread. -8an tube sleeves and tube nuts for the hard line changeover connection. I purchased a 37° flare tool. Most part numbers are in the picture. Only parts missing are my -8an hose to -8an male thread. Should be here in 2-3 weeks. I’m not sure the cooler line size for the 545 or the 6 speed so you’ll need to measure that. Or run -8 am line to a standalone transmission cooler. I may swap to a standalone cooler in the future for my truck.
@Wild one can you share your pictures of the heater delete and the transmission fluid check procedures.
