Stay away from the RevMax plate,it's overpriced garbage,and if you're not careful will burn up your 8 speed in short order.Jesse Caulks bypass is far superior.

I've had them in my trucks (then a 19' and now a 23') for about four years now and its operational excellence in terms of cooling the transmission by up to 30deg/c and also a few deg/c in the engine is phenomenal.

Overpriced, yes. Garbage? It worked fine for me but you have to install the full thing as previously discussed.

If you're not careful it'll leak,and personally after messing with the Rev Max plate,it's garbage and isn't worth even trying,given the fact it can leak coolant into the transmission if you don't get it sealed up correctly.
I originally started with the RevMax plate,then basically threw it in the garbage,and completely deleted the heat exchanger.
Both Khris/CrazyKid and i emailed them and told them their kit would burn up an 8 speed if you followed their original first and 2nd stage installs,as only the 3rd stage install was semi safe.
I'm guessing you got the idea of doing the full install from my thread years ago on the Revmax plate,as Khris and i were one the first ones to try out their kit

Yeah I think i purchased it before the bypass was a thing. I think I added some sealant to the plate after reading that thread too. Either way that truck was sold a couple years ago so there's someone out there with either a happy truck or a real sad transmission.

I plan to buy the bundle offer and junk the OE plastic cap.

The aluminum cap from Jesse's kit just makes more sense to me, especially given the price.

I did the Jessie stat and aluminum cap. Super easy and kept xmission cool when towing my 6k lb boat in 90 degree weather.

Strongly recommend.

Yeah, it's been out there for a little while now. No more worrying about getting the plastic cap out without damage, plus I added a nice boss to the cap so you can grab it if ever needed.

Yessir. To date it fits all 8spd fitted to 1500 Rams, excluding the TRX

I recently ordered your bypass kit (the two pieces). Got them both, sitting on my workbench, thanks!

Now how about making a transmission dipstick add-on? The trans fluid/pan/filter change doesn't bother me at all, but the ridiculous procedure for refill really irks me. I'd sooooo much rather do the refill through a dipstick tube, and then measure to proper 'Full' level using the dipstick. You think there might be a viable market for this?

Not sure how you'd fab up a dipstick tube,as it'd have to somehow screw into the fill port,and how you'd use a dipstick to measure the level,would be the tough part,as the transmission is full when the fluid dribbles out the fill port. For the amount of times you actually have to service the transmission,i'm not sure it's really a viable option,especially considering what all is entailed in getting the proper fill on the transmission. It's a good idea,but viable i'm not so sure.

Might be a great idea for one on a PPE pan. Unless one rigged a sight glass on the trans, would still need to crawl under and watch for the dribble

If someone came up with a good option, I'm sure it would sell. Especially if it didn't require leveling the trans first, accounting for the angle in the truck.

Then the only thing you'd need to make custom would be a fitting for the side of the pan, that the end of the dipstick tube would fasten into , allowing the dipstick to slide through the side of the pan into the fluid. Or the dipstick may actually not even need to get into the pan itself, I'm not sure.

This way you're not reinventing the wheel. You'd be using two off-the-shelf parts, and only need the one custom part, which you seem adept at making.

The thing I don't quite grasp is, if the ZF is a sealed unit, and you remove the filler plug without the engine running, fluid is evacuated.
How will this work with an open dipstick tube?

If you had a screw in T style fitting that screwed into the fill plug hole,and extended just slightly below the fill plug,then made up a dipstick tube that would slide into the side of the T fitting that faces up,you might be able to utilize a graduated dipstick that would slide down just slightly past the fill plugs lower edge.I've studied this a fair bit,and that's about the only way i've been able to come up with an actual dipstick that'd work. You'd need to fab up 3 pieces,and that'd be the seperate T fitting that was open on 1 end to capture the dipstick tube,and was closed on the bottom side ,and then could be screwed into the fill plug port,then you'd need a fabbed up dipstick tube that would push into the open end of the T fitting and be sealed with an O-ring and the graduated dipstick.Those are just my thoughts though.It'd take some experimenting when graduating the dipstick to compensate for the trannsmissions down hill slant though

How would the fluid not evacuate through the dipstick tube during a shutdown, like it does when the filler plug is removed?

Or, is that so minimal an amount that the vertical dipstick tube would contain the fluid volume?
