So I have an 8speed tranny in my 5.7hemi. At times when I accelerate, it's like my tranny can't chose which gear it wants to be in... Like it bumps between 2 or 3 gears. It only have 500miles on it, normal?

Its probably still learning your driving. My 6-speed was frustrating for 1500 miles, but is pretty solid now at 2500.

Are you sure it's not just shifting to next gear? 1,2,3,4 all happen pretty quick, depending on how you accelerate. The 3.92's make those gears even "shorter".

It takes a bit of time to get used to the frequent shifting. After a bit you won't notice it.

Agree with toofart. I have 3.92 and 8 speed and I can be in 4th by the time I cross an intersection. Give it some time to learn your driving habits- mine improved drastically by about 1500kms. I didn't give it a second thought since the transmission I came from (6R80E) was an epileptic sketch case all the time.

Mine does the same thing. It takes a while for it to learn your driving habits. I also have the 3.92's. I have around 600 miles on mine as well. I have heard these things have a crazy amount of shift patterns.

I've noticed if I am pushing it to the floor and then quickly let off it stays in a lower gear, which is completely different than my last truck. I have around 13,000 on mine and that is the only time it seems different on the shifting patterns.

My 09 did that sometimes too. It has happened in my 14 as well.

I like the programming on these 8 speeds. While going up a hill, if the truck has to downshift to maintain speed it won't upshift until the hill is passed, even if engine load has decreased. My older 545RFE would downshift, upshift, then re-downshift in long hills. Stupid thing.

The 8 speed rocks.
