97 rear diff into a 99?

I have a great condition 1997 rear end in my parts truck. But my 1999 rear end is singing a tune. I know the 1999 has a speed sensor but not sure about the 1997 and it's not close to look. I'd like to swap if i can. Any advise?...tia, Al

You can't swap those differentials without using the 99 carrier for the speed sensor. 99+ differentials use a tone ring and a hall sensor to measure differential speeds. 94-98 use a gear in either the transmission or transfer case.
