The rear pinion seal is not difficult, although I had a hard time finding the pinion bolt socket size before getting into the project. So here is what I had.
Drive shaft bolts are 15mm
Pinion bolt is 1 1/4”
I have a 2011, 1500 sport that had the rear end recall. I wasn’t expecting to run into a retainer clip around the main bolt. I sprayed the tiny set screws liberally with PB blaster and was able to get the Allen’s out without much trouble. I believe they were a 5/64” or 1/16” Allen, could not read the size on that small of an Allen. Then I could not get the retainer clip out with snap ring pliers. I ended up getting some M5-8 x 12mm bolts from Oreillys, screw them in but don’t try to bottom them out or you will spread the clip into place and make harder to get out. Use a pry tool and the ring should come out with a little work, but don’t pry against the splines. I did use the snap ring pliers to put back in place later.
All other instructions are easily found, hope it saves somebody some time!
