I have a 2010 1500 SLT and have recently encountered a problem with my AC unit. As soon as I turn my truck on there is a clicking sound that last only a couple minutes then stops. The controls for my AC Do not work and cold air only comes from the lower vents. Can anyone help me? I'm hoping its a DIY fix to avoid taking it to the dealer.

You could start with your vacuum lines. They can wreak havoc on your A/C system. There are one way check valves that the vac lines run to.

Check for recalls, my truck had this issue with the ac controls defaulting to just cold air on the feet. it was covered under warranty.

something to do with the blend door issue.

My truck did the exact same thing over the weekend. Dropped it off on Tuesday and it was a faulty actuator...not covered under the recall, which was already done on my truck last year.

did you fix yourself? from my research it seems very easy to change out you just pull the center section apart and its right there.

Actually no I did not. It was already at the dealer and for $100 (I had a service coupon) I figured it would be worth my time to have them just do it.

I have an 09, when I start my truck, it turns on the feet for a few seconds then switches to the one I want, I figured it was to release the hot air so it doesn't blow directly on you. Is what I am talking about something different? There is no noise.

Hammer...That is something totally different. Mine does that too when you first start it up. The problem with mine and some others on here was that it ONLY blew air on your feet...nothing else worked in addition to the clunking noise from behind the dash. Make sense?
