Hey guys I have an 07 1500 Hemi and i love the truck. I have two questions, first is regarding AC. I had it recharged in May 12 (dye added to detect leak) and it started blowing cold on the pass side but not the drivers side about 14 months later, then it started freezing up. Took it to shop and they couldnt find the leak, so they recharged it and added extra dye. He said being that it took over a year to leak out that it must be a real small leak. Suggestions? Second, my hemi has 89k on it, I noticed I was burning a quart of oil every 2k miles. I was running syn, a buddy told me sometimes the syn is to slippery and causes blow by and suggested using conventional oil. I switched back to conv oil, but still seem to be using a quart every 2k miles. Is this normal for these engines. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Very small leaks are hard to find but a good tech should be able to locate it with a sniffer and uv light. As for the oil consumption, that's not normal. Mine has 78k miles and I lose 1/4 quart over the 8,000 miles it's in there.

Is the inside of your exhaust pipe black and sooty? Any leaks you know of? I'm thinking a leak, even a hemi that gets rode hard and put up wet shouldn't burn that much. And you'd notice smoke with that level of consumption. Check for leaks and for oil on the air filter to see if the pcv valve has failed.
