A/C noise...

My buddy has a 2006,crew cab, 5.9 cummins. Every once and a while, when he turns the A/C on, there is a definite grinding noise that does not sound too good. Some times it does it and some times not. My guess is that it is the compressor going out. What do you guys think?

I say the compressor as well, my was rattling before it took a dump, now i'm replacing everything. Don't wait, just do it now and save the trouble of having to replace all.
