Just thought I'd ask......

I just bout my truck two weeks ago today and when I took it in to the service department to get the computer re-flashed to add navigation, I noticed that when I shift from P, there is and audible click that can also be felt at the ignition. I brought it to the service department's attention but I have to wait until next Tuesday to take it in.

Maybe it's just something I haven't noticed before. Anyone else have this?

Even if you haven't noticed it before or not is a 2013, there should be no clicking or crazy sound! I had an issue with my wheel alignment when i bought my 2012 (I was the first owner, first to put any mileage on it and yes first to fart in the seats lol) so it had to be something from the factory or something they did. I took my baby back several times and made them fix it, even made them fill my tank twice for my issues. Take it back till YOUR 100% Satisfied!!!

My alignment was off from the factory as well. It had 3 miles on when I bought it.

If u hear anything u don't like I would get it looked at. When I first got my truck u herd a ratcheting type sound when I turned the steering wheel. It ended up beeing a clock spring. 150 miles later it came back but louder. It was then the clock spring and the intermediate shaft. I also took it to the dealer awhile ago cuz it would chirp in the engine bay while at idol and they said it was the belt tensioner... well that didn't fix it, it ended up beeing the water pump. All within 18,000 miles. So any sound u don't like get them to look at. That's what the warranty is for

One of the guys at work suggested it may be the key being locked into place but I'm still taking it in to be checked out.

Thanks for the input. :)

Are you sure that isn't the clicking of the shift lever lock mechanism? When you depress the brake to shift out of P the truck "unlocks" the shift lever. In my 11, it is audible, but not alarming.

I suspect that is what the dealership is going to tell you.

They may. I put my fingers on the ignition key when I move the shift lever out of park and I can feel it there.

I'll find out (hopefully) next Tuesday for sure.

My shifter is on the column (I ordered the Outdoorsman with the full front bench for the extra seat), and my click is not quite as loud as yours..., but it sounds like it happens at about the same time.

Hopefully they have a good response for you lol.

At least its clearly audible, so they can reproduce it every time.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

I just jumped in my truck and it does the same thing. It sounds like its locking the key into place. I've had other cars do the same thing.

Thanks for confirming, RamAir. That takes a load off.

You never know when an innocuous little sound like that could be an indicator of something else. Best to have it looked at; that's one reason we buy new (warranty), right?

So did you ever take it to the dealer to see what they said?My 13' has 1275miles on it and it's never made a noise,However I got in the truck earlier after remote starting for my son and not paying attention when I got in the truck I put the key in the ignition and tried to start the truck..Not saying that's what caused it,But ever since I did that its making the same loud clicking sound when I move from park and it's coming from the ignition..Now I understand that it may be a key locking into place but I'll be damned if I'm gonna live with my brand new truck knowing I have to hear it everytime I move out of park..I would understand if it was just a low volume sound but it's pretty damn loud...Guess ill be making an appt at the dealer also!!
