I got to go to the unveiling of the new Titan XD at our local dealership. I know... not a big media event, but it's neat for our small town. It was a preproduction model. They are still trying to shave weight to make it possible to classify it as a 1500. Sounds like things like sunroof etc *may* be sacrificed to make weight. Guess we'll see. First impression- it's a battleship. Thing was HUGE.

I understand the hype over the cummins/ aisin combo but honestly... colour me unimpressed.

I think they're nice. When I buy a new truck down the road it will be on my list.

I seen one last January at the Philly auto show and it really did not tickle my pickle. Looks nice but I think the market of what they are looking to push these in is pretty narrow. Toyota did the same thing with their Tundra of trying to make it seem like it is a 3/4 ton working under the guise of a 1/2 ton.

From a couple of videos I have seen, they are supposedly coming out with a light frame version and a heavy frame version but both are suppose to be 1/2 tons.

You wanna hear something super funny about ****? I can't post this anywhere anymore because I think we don't have a lounge anymore.

So ******* will no longer have nude photo's in their magazine, but playgirl will still have nude photos of guys, yeah I had to look it up so don't get all disruptive calling me out for that knowledge. Bottom line, the most famous magazine for naked chicks will only have naked guys, is this some world or what? :)

I don't know for sure- the placard was blank. What I understood (and it may not be accurate) is that they are striving to keep it as a class 2a which means the GVWR has to be 8500lbs or less. In order to do that and gain an edge against the F150 they had best come up with some serious payload to match that diesel. If they can't get the payload numbers to compete in the class 2a, they'll drown in class 2b with the 250/ 2500 series trucks because there is no way they can rate them up to the 9900 or 10000lbs GVWR found there. Looking at the frame, springs, brakes, etc they are definitely designed to be a half ton.

This is all speculation on my part after some online research and speaking with a couple of Nissan reps there. That thing is a battleship so in my mind -unless the entire thing is made of aluminum and plastic- they will have to rate it at 8499lbs GVWR to have any usable payload and the fact they are talking about shaving weight through removing available options tells me they missed their mark on the weights.
