So, I have been having some issues with my PF tow mirrors from A1 and wanted to see if anyone else has seen this before?

Tuesday - get out of work and go to fold my mirrors out, they only go about halfway (both sides). Fold them in/out a few times, same thing. I exit the truck to see if the mirror is stuck, or just needs a hand. They are pretty solid - those power fold motors don't just let the mirror move like normal, so I didn't force it. Finally, after about 5-6 times, the mirrors settle into their correct position.

Wednesday - Get off work, fold mirrors out, but this time, they open up probably an inch short of where they need to be. Closed them, reopened them and it worked fine on the second try. A little concerning, since this is the second day in a row. Called A1, and they weren't sure what was happening, but offered to exchange them. I declined as I don't want to just replace them at every little blip, so I wanted to see if there truly was a problem.

Thursday - mirrors work fine all day. Whew! Dodged that bullet

Friday... rut roh. Go to fold mirrors out, they do that "stop an inch short" position again. Fold them in, and back out. Drivers side stops at the normal position. Passenger side doesn't stop at that position. It keeps going until the mirror is sticking straight forward! As in, the face of the mirror is facing outward (the complete opposite of when its in the folded in position). Closing them worked just fine (I expected the P mirror to stop halfway closed since it was more than double "open"). The mirrors did this twice where the passenger side completely flipped 180 degrees and pointed forward. I grab my cell, and figure I'll record this for A1. Press record, hit the PF button - everything works as it should. Go figure.

Anyone else ever see this happen? All connections are fine, and they've been working flawlessly for the 3-4 months they've been on the truck. I'm not sure how the mirrors actually work in the truck, so I don't know what would cause both of them to stop working at the same time. Do the mirrors work in unison? If one went bad, could it be causing the other to go haywire? Just makes no sense to me.

I'll attach a couple of pictures, but be warned - I can't figure out how to get them rotated correctly. They were sideways, so I rotated them on my PC. Well, they are still sideways. Stupid pictures. You can see the drivers side is closed slightly (look at where the mirror arm is, its not flush). Also you can see the passenger side it over-extended.

To be fair - A1 Auto has been more then a pleasure to work with. I currently have a new set of mirrors coming, and hopefully this will be the last of it. The mirrors themselves are a lifesaver (cant fit in the garage without them), and they appear to be an exact OEM clone from what I can tell. So not knocking or persuading anyone away from A1 or their mirrors, just want to get to the bottom of this, and perhaps help someone else if there is actually a problem and V3 needs to be in the works. FYI - these are the PF tow mirrors (Chrome, Puddle, Turn, Memory, Heated - I believe all function mirrors)

so is it the case they stick, when truck left outside in the cold, but don't stick when garaged overnight? If so could it just be ice? We are talking about the great white north, right?

I had actually wondered if that was the case - the first time it happened, it was snowing. I've also been through a carwash recently. But I asked them about the moisture, and they say it shouldn't be an issue. I wasn't sure if maybe there was a sensor or contact that got wet.

That's part of why I went to manually move the mirrors the first time it happened, thinking maybe the mirror was just hitting a point that it gets stuck. But after the mirrors started overcorrecting themselves - even going as far as positioning themselves forward, something tells me the electronics are screwed up somewhere.

Just wanted to pop on and give a final update on this. I receive the replacement set of mirrors and installed. I noticed on these new mirrors, there is a little "trap door" on the bottom that was not there on the last ones. When I got the last ones, they were tough to get because they kept selling out. I have a feeling that the original pair that I received might have been a gen 1 version (which they quit selling due to motor issues). These ones are definitely different, but I'm not sure why. I'm hoping this resolves the issue, but will come back to this thread if I run into anything else.
