Mrs Biggfoot's '16 Yukon is in the shop to fix ( totally not daughter's fault ) minor accident damage , and the other party's Ins is covering the rental .

A '24 Waggoner Series ll , with the 3.0L twin turbo . With unlimited milage .

So I'll get a chance to test out the " wave of the future " . Without any concerns about long term longevity compared to the semi old school Cubic Inches .

The numbers look good on paper , but l have previously experienced numbers lying in the real world , in the truck / suv realm .

Once upon a time , we had a long term rental on '99 Dakota Sport stretch cab w/ the 5.2L . It had great torque and response , and everything was well balanced performance, well suited for the application .

Fast foreward, and owned briefly a '99 Grand Cherokee w/ the 4.7L . Better numbers on paper , but total dog in real life . Where the 5.2L had fat torque with just touching the pedal from a stop , the 4.7 would barely move until wound out past 4k .

I thought to myself this engine might be interesting in a pony car , but had zero business being in a truck or SUV .

No, the Hurricane is the real deal because it is twin turbo and waste gated.

It's been demonstrated at the track.

Longevity and reliability are the only concerns with small engines pushed hard. They are counting on most all of these to be grocery getter trucks for young guys that like to zip around in trucks.

I'd never routinely haul with a turbo tiny gas motor.
