So I have an '01 shortbed 1500 with the 3.9. For over a year, every so often, both the abs and brake warning indicators would light up on my dash when I first started it. I could then turn it off and back on and the lights would go off. Usually.
Over the last month or so it became more frequent and wouldn't always go off after restarting. Of course my little Creader doesn't read ABS so I took it to two local shops. The first wanted $125 to scan. The second said no charge for diagnostic.
So it came back with several codes and it was all electronic in the brake control unit. They wanted me to get the hydraulic portion as well but considering the codes were electronic related I opted to just buy the unit for $50 off egay. Two torx screws to remove the unit and two connections to unplug. It was so easy I could do it!
And did. No more warning lights. :-D
Thought someone out there might find this helpful. It was the kind of cheap fix I like.
I need to bring a couple cases of beer to the shop that checked it!

When it starts stacking codes again, are you going to come back here and tell us what the problem REALLY was? Or are you another one-post wonder?
