I know several have had this issue and some successfully repaired. I looked at most all I could find on this failed Chrysler/Ram part and deduced by the intermittency of my warnings, on again, off again on the HUD, that my issue was more than likely the motor. So I removed the left front tire, wheel cowling and abs brake module (entire unit). Some say it can be done with motor only removal but why fight it? Sure enough, one of the brushes was sticking bad. Like I couldn't hardly move it bad. I removed the plastic tabs holding the brush race, opened the back and forced the brush out. With a little sandpaper I rubbed the bottom and both sides of the graphite brush ever so lightly. The brush, when replaced slid as it should. I did have to drill small holes where the plastic holding tabs were and used machine screws and a dab of silicone to hold the race in place on reinstall. Assembled the motor back to the unit using the before mentioned feeler gauges (credit to whoever came up with that fix) and reinstalled the unit back on the truck. After bleeding the brakes manually, I put the Autel Scanner on to bleed the abs module which to my lack of due diligence wouldn't communicate with the module. Turns out the trusty Dodge Security Gateway Module was doing it's intended job. Instead of taking the dash apart and using the Autel option of the 12+8 cable, I ordered a Koad by-pass cable which worked like a charm. End of story is my abs brakes are now working as should. This story comes with a note that this is my second failure on this truck. The first was under warranty at least with 20k miles. This one, not so much. But out of pocket for a cable and 2 bottles of brake fluid is nice compaired to waiting and paying what the heck ever they are charging now. WIN.
