I am sure there has been a lot of you who have experienced this issue. My truck has been in the shop for 2 days without resolution to the problem. I have 2 questions:
1). Is this a common issue with the 2017 Ram 4WD.
2). Is this an issue that can be fixed.

I am retired & had hope & aspirations that this would be the last vehicle I would have to buy but if this issue can't be resolved I am going to have to get rid of it & buy a brand that will last.

There may be something with the front diff or T case not engaging the 4WD. Is it always on or when you try your 4WD? It could be electrical (wiring) issue.
I have a 2011 and a clutch went in my T case that gave these errors as well.
My ruck was getting tranny work done and they pulled the T case apart due to no 4WD and found the burnt clutch. I had no 4WD and those exact lights came on, ABS/Traction.
4th gens, but a few years apart.

Nothing like assuming on the first post.
2) bought it new or used?
If used you cannot tell what the previous owner did unless you bought from family/friend and not even then.
3) My truck has been in the shop for 2 days
Dealership or Goober's Garage?
4)& buy a brand that will last.
Good luck on that

I dont think ive seen or heard of anyone else with that issue on a new ram, not when i worked at a dodge dealer and not ever on the forum. Sounds electrical, make sure the battery is good to go, grounds are good etc. maybe this video will help?

The fake 4wd system (if you have the BW 44-44 transfer case) won't work if any of the speed sensor (abs sensors) at the wheels are defective. All it take is a bad sensor, or wire and you'll be stuck in 2wd.

They replaced the speed sensor but didn't solve the problem now they have ordered a ABS module to find if that solves the problem. I don't think they have a real tech so they are going to throw Parts at it until they solve the issue or give it back unrepaired. I have a real bad feeling about this.

WY-Dave,
I bought the truck new. I have used the 4 WD a couple times. I was cruising down the Highway in 2 WD when the issue occurred. The truck has only been to the Dealer for service. I love the truck but I need one that is more reliable. Once it is fixed I will get rid of it because of the unreliability.

Did they do both speed sensors on the front? When I lifted my truck I actually had mine slightly turned so it wasn’t reading correctly and I had all the issues you did. Strange that them replacing the sensor didn’t help. When I had the issue that’s what everything pointed to online.

Just went through the same problem. Mine ended up being ABS control module. Dealership had many in stock so it makes me think this is a common occurence.

JDE,
Did you get your problem fixed? What was it? My 2014 3500 dually diesel does the same thing. Strange thing is it only does it intermittently, and seems like only in warmer weather. Thank goodness it works in the better in the cold as we had a lot of snow this year and I needed 4WD a lot.
Right now in 50 degree weather ABS, traction control, and check engine lights are on and it won’t shift into 4WD. If I restart it (sometimes several times) only the check engine light is on and it shifts into it. Sounds electrical to me, would like to know if anyone has had and solved the problem. Happy Trucking!

It would be best to create your own thread.
If recycling this ancient thread, start from scratch and provide as much detail as possible.

Start with scanning for DTCs; this could save lots of wild-assed guessing.

Auto parts stores will scan for free, but their scanners may not be that great and might not show the faults.

And welcome to Ram Forum.
