ABS Module?

I'm scratching my head on this one. 2015 Ram 1500, 5.7 4x4.

When the truck sits for a while (only for a few hours - like at work), the ABS module throws a C2200 code. The parking brake, ABS, and traction control lights come up on the dash. Also, the warnings to service the trailer brake module comes up on the EVIC.

If I drive the truck for while, and restart - no problems.

I've tested the battery and it gets a good health report. Put an amp clamp on the negative battery cable looking for parasitic drain. The truck goes to sleep as expected, down to 0.2 mA.

Looking at live data on the scan tool; when I get the errors the ABS relay stays constant at 0V. When it is functioning properly, the ABS relay is generally consistent at ~10V, but has spikes down to 0.

All wheel speed sensors are running consistent (both when there is / isn't the ABS warning).

I suspect the battery as it seems after the truck runs for a while / charges there is no problem. That said, it has NO ISSUES starting.

Trying to avoid the temptation to fire the parts cannon at the problem and appreciate any suggestions on what / how to test. Appreciate any thoughts!

I have a 2018 with low mileage yet I had to replace the ABS module 1.5 years ago. Guess what? I just started up all over again. I'm miffed that RAM won't correct this free of charge, and the NTSB won't get off the dime as this is a safety issue but they must be getting paid hush money. The ABS module is a 2 part unit. The cheaper part takes care of the problem like 95% of the time according to the service manager where I had it fixed. I didn't have both side replaced because there is a NATIONWIDE SHORTAGE!!! Imagine that - a shortage of parts due to them all having to be replaced. This is my last RAM, I'm going to go back to Chevy. At least my Silverado's never had a braking problem.

Multiple system alarms almost always point to the power system, the battery.

Digital battery load testers used at many auto parts stores will often provide a false positive result for a flakey cell. We see about 3-5 of this happening every day.

For your info and everyone elses. It seems that FINALLY, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NTSB) has mandated a recall. Now this is a 2 piece unit and the unit they are talking about is "NOT" the side I had replaced. Because the dealership was attempting to resolve the problem, I wound up paying over $1000 for this repair and it lasted about 1.5 years, then it came back but now intermittently. I am going to request reimbursement for the original work performed.

Update: We can't quite file the claim for the recall because RAM claims they don't yet have a fix??? My response is "whatever you're putting in the new RAMs, put it in the existing recall". We are all out here living with dings, bells, and whistles - all while the ABS system may not be functioning while we are towing 16-30k lbs load. MOPAR needs to get their act together. This is a major safety issue. Now, I had it "repaired" in Aug 2022 but it failed again. I had filed my complaint with the NTSB and perhaps I'm one of the guys that helped get it to this point. So the repairs I had done in 2022, I filed for reimbursement. We'll see what happens.

I appear to be having the same issue with my 2016 Ram 1500 and does not appear to be covered in the recall. My Mechanic is quoteing 1200+ to replace module plus programing. If its the same issue it seems it should be part of the recall. I filed a complaint online at NHTSA. I have seen where this may be an issue with the brushes getting stuck in the abs electric motor, bad connection on the pins connecting to the module and also possible soider joints on pc board inside module. Anyone have a wiring diagram for pins on connector?

I just replaced the ABS module in my '16. If the recall ever includes the '16s with an upgraded part I'll worry about that then. For now I found a used ABS unit (with module and HCU) for around $200 on eBay. Even after AlfaOBD for programming the VIN and the OBD dongle I was only in for around $400 total.

A recall would be great but it was worth a few hundred dollars and less than an hour of my time to get rid of the lights and have cruise control again

I have 2018 3500 chassis that's been having this issue for years now. The first HCU module was replaced under warranty. The second was just replaced under this recall recently. It's a general consensus that IF you don't replace both the HCU and ABS modules at the same time, it will not fix a thing. I've been all over the internet researching and I've came to the conclusion this recall is crap. They don't want to pay for both so they half-**** it with sending out this recall and wasting people's time. Anyone having this issue needs to go to NHTSA site and put in a complaint. However, I do wish you luck. I did that and it "had a problem submitting". So, I guess I'll keep trying to submit it. Until something legit gets done, I'll pull the fuse, so I don't have to hear the ding donging.

I've had my 2017 RAM's ABS modules replaced 3 times since 2019 with twice coming out of my pocket. I filed for reimbursement but have not heard anything in 2 months.
Has anyone been reimbursed for the repairs?
As a side note the service manager tried telling me after the third replacement it was caused by not bleeding the brake lines..I told him I wanted the ABS unit that was replaced (which I received) and shortly afterwards ironically the recall was issued...
