AC condenser fan question

Hi all, just noticed on the way home my condnsor fan is running when the heater is on but the ac is off ( light off on the ac button ), this stops after 30 seconds or so when I turn I the heater fan off, should it be doing this?
I have a 2005 5.7 Hemi by the way.....thanks.

You probably have your control knob set to be blowing out of the defroster. Most cars will run the ac compressor any time the knob is set to defrost, regardless of whether you have the ac turned on or not and the temperature. This helps to dry the air which will remove condensation off of the inside of the windshield.

I think you are right - I tend to have it on the screen plus footwell, I'll test it tomorrow, thanks very much for your help
