I have a slow leak in my AC system. I'd like to add refrigerant but I can't get the compressor
to engage. I don't believe it's a fuse/relay problem and it isn't seized. Could use your help.
thank you, gregjo1948

What i did with a similar issue once, was unplug connector at the compressor, connect volt meter and with truck running try to turn on ac and see if you have voltage. If so It most likely is the clutch or compressor. If not you will know its the truck/wiring side. Low and high pressure switches on the ac lines are a pretty common place to look as well.

^^^ what he said
Check for resistance/continuity of the clutch before trying checking for voltage.
Also check for pressure in the AC system, if you don't have at least 30-40 psi, the low pressure control is keeping the compressor off.
If the system is that low, it's best to find the leak and have it repaired.
