Adaptive Cruise Not Keeping Distance

Just purchased a 1 year old 2025 Ram 1500 that came with ACC. I tried it an activated the ACC with 4 "Bars" of distance, but no matter what I do, the vehicle will not slow and continues to approach the vehicle in front of it. It will not brake or keep distance.

I've cleaned the black box in the bumper, as well as the windshield camera, but no improvement. There are no error messages.

Any idea what else to try before a trip to the dealer?

Make sure you are not in regular cruise control mode.

There are 2 cruise control buttons. One is for a regular cruise control that just keeps the speed. Another for ACC. Also, check the front radar window (black polycarbonate piece in your front bumper). It could be dirty.

The OP says he has his ACC set to 4 bars of distance, so it sounds like he has ACC rather than traditional CC. Also, if the sensors are blocked, you will get a DIC message. I wonder if any DTCs are set.

Check for all module DTC's, especially "U" codes. Regardless of WHO makes the vehicle, the CAN/BUS strategy for safety is pretty universal.
Make sure you don't have a cracked light housing (water intrusion point) in ANY of the truck's corners.
