I just wanted to let you guys know that you in fact CAN add an extrenal HDD/usb to your truck.

I put 25000 songs in MP3/320kbps on a Seagate usb hard drive for my buddy and it works just fine.

if you have Windows 10, you'll need an app like this to format the drive as Windows 10 ONLY does XFAT (not fat32 which is what you'll need)

https://en.softonic.com/download/fat32-format/windows/post-download?sl=1

the stock UConnect will not read FLAC files just fyi. I just wanted to share.

Good info, man! I have a couple of 64GB USB drives but wondered if I could add a small Seagate HDD to the truck. You are using the USB connection in the media center, right?

What USB spec did you use? 1.0? 2.0? 3.0?

What is the best way to setup the hard drive after so you can organize music? Folders?

Formatted as FAT32 I've found the MOPAR head units are finicky about folders. So, I just load up my USB stick with individual song files and never have a problem with playback.

yes folders are fine. we plugged this into my buddies truck, not mine. we used a usb 3.0 drive from Seagate. it's just sitting in the center console. I hope that helps. you can navigate folders on the drive no problem.
