I miss spoke. It’s a brand new truck (2020 only had 6 miles on it). It came with 2 keys. When I said a single key I meant just a plain key not remote. I don’t know if I have tip start (I assume I do since it’s a 2020) but I do have to physically put the key in the ignition and turn it to start the truck (like you mentioned you had a truck that you did).

I appreciate your help. It sounds like if I go ahead with the AlfaOBD route (app, key fobs, obd link, bypass cable) I’ll be able to have the remote entry and remote start.
What does your key fob look like? Is there no lock and unlock buttons on it?
Every car and truck I've ever seen ( in the last 15 years) with power locks can unlock the door by pushing a button on the fob.

To test if you have Tip Start, you turn the key to all the way to start and let go. You shouldn't have to hold the key in the start position to crank the engine.
I think all the +'13 Gen4 Rams have TipStart. It even works on the diesel engines, the truck will auto delay to allow the glow plugs/grid heater to warm up before it cranks the engine.
Yes they all have tipstart... the computer controls the starter

I have no key fob. It’s just the key.

I have a 2016 Tradesman regular cab with manual windows and locks. I put lock actuators in the doors going to two relays and run by a Viper remote/alarm. Works great! Wish I had installed the remote start too. Thinking of doing power windows too.

Thats crazy!! I've never seen a vehicle with power locks without a keyless entry.. my 2017 is a base model and the key looks like a USB thumb drive.. I guess fCA is trying to pinch penny's wherever they can.

And this is a 1500, not a 2500? I do know they make the 2500 bare bones with crank up windows and no power nothing.

So did I ripped off by my dealer? They told me that having the remote wasn’t possible.

Just because a few people have “never seen something like this” before doesn’t mean Ram doesn’t produce trucks equipped like yours. There’s nothing wrong with how your truck is equipped. If you want factory remote keyless entry and remote start on your truck, just follow my instructions in post 12 of this thread.

Another thing to remember is the actual metal part of the key isn't what starts your truck. It's the actual transmitter in the plastic part of the key and its identical to an RKE fob.. The metal part is just to unlock the doors. The key you have looks just like the one in the truck I upgraded to remote keyless entry. Some trucks are definitely equipped like yours from the factory. Your truck just happens to be one that isn't equipped with the RKE ( Remote Keyless Entry) option even though most are. As Jimmy07 has stated you can add these features if you wish. Honestly this is just the beginning of what you can add if you chose. You can pretty much add any factory option you want. Of course the amount of effort involved would vary depending on what you decided to add. Remember I posted that the dealer may not be able to add the remote start to your truck because it is not optioned to have it from the factory. This doesn't mean they are "ripping you off". This would mean the codes are not available for them in your options list in your BCM and they have no idea what the Alfa tool is or what it can do. The Alfa tool can see these codes and enable them when they may not be able too. 90% of the things I have added to my truck could not have been done by the dealer.
