Total Cost to an auxiliary battery: $1,093.86

Note: This application/modification requires the removal of the factory air assembly to the carburetor and the air handler box (passengers side of the truck) as well as the connector tray for the air handler. There are four ($) 14mm bolts to remove, two on the top two underneath accessible only by removing four of the screws holding the wheel well PVC. One bolt is at 12 o'clock from the wheel hub and the other at about 2 o'clock. Keep the bolts for the new battery tray. Two will reinstall at the bottom where you just removed them and two facing the wheel well at the top of the battery tray and to accommodate the new battery tray. The VARARAM Industries Air Grabber just takes its place, a couple hour mod if you take your time. here is the Vararam YouTube instructional video link: . VARARAM is manufactured, owned, and operated in the USA. The owner is down to earth and extremely helpful. You can use K&N part number 63-1561 however you MUST modify the unit to make it work, something I was not willing to do. Check to ensure your alternator is putting out 13.7 on load and 14.5 without lights and accessories on - Health Check. Can be done at most auto parts stores for free or if you have a meter DIY.

Its a pretty straight forward mod it just took a few days working on and off taking my sweet time. Most of the time was spent crimping and sweating the fittings, applying wire loom and heat shrinking the cable and loom where I thought necessary, and routing the cables to make it look as factory as possible.

I will post the after pictures when the weather clears!

All the best, cheers!

Hi, do you have any pic of how you removed the connector tray for the air handler? The box before you actually installed the new Tray?

I am curious why you added the second battery. It is a great mod. But please don’t let the GVWR police on the forum know you added more weight to your truck
