Ok, what years have the active shutters? My 08 doesn't but, they sound interesting enough to sepnd the time retrofitting a set. Just need to decide if it is feasible, and cost effective to mod in a set on my 08, or if I want to engineer them myself.

Haha, half of Ram owners trying to get rid of theirs, and you’re wanting to add it.
*not laughing at you or the idea, just found it funny

When you have had to get out and block the radiator with the vynil grill cover, when it's -10F, with thirty mph winds and blowing snow, more than a few times: The ability to flip a switch or two and block things down to keep the truck running near normal operating temp starts to look really appealing. And, I would hazard there is a huge difference between how well things work, when the computer is running them, and manual operation with a switch.

In Wyoming we just added a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator.

Well, the real question then becomes, do you want to tie it into the existing PCM, or do you want a stand alone unit with a single "open/close" switch ?

Cardboard is so old school, the hip guys like me hunted up some old carpet at the local parts store ( the dump) and if you where lucky , you had a color that matched the truck. My Massey plow tractor had red winter front all winter, and covered the sides as well.
My 14 has shutters, guess they work?
My heavy truck had very good factory shutters, that where operated with air pressure,
Very good set up.
I have seen those with a manual crank on them , the would be easier to set up.
A electric motor could be rigged up and controls with a thermostat.

While we where at it a cut out on the ex pipe always added a huge HP gain , we figured. ;)
