What does it take to add the 2 buttons on the back of wheel to control the volume and change stations/songs? I bought the buttons and have the harness, anything else needed? Its the 5.0 radio in a 2014 1500 express.

You'll need the new back cover that has the cutouts for the switches.

They sell kits with the new cover, the switches, and the wiring harness. You have to pull the steering wheel of course, but before that you have to remove the airbag. There are a few write-ups on this forum with all of the info you will need!

This was the first upgrade I did on my truck. With less than 500 miles on the clock, I pulled the airbag and wheel. I was only slightly nervous, lol.
IMO the hardest part was releasing the clips that hold the airbag/center section onto the wheel.

And although it was covered in the thread linked above, here is a picture of the steering wheel puller mentioned. It was in stock at my local O'Reillys.

If you get anther brand, just make sure it has the 2 "L" shaped puller legs shown here.

Couple suggestions for the OP .

I recommend jacking the front of the truck up a bit to get most of the weight off the front tires ...this makes the wheel much easier to turn to get to all three clips required to remove the airbag .
Using a smart phone camera ( mirror mode ) with the picture viewable on the screen side helped me locate the clips quickly.

Don't forget to disconnect the battery [emoji106]

Have a puller handy as stated above ( may be able to rent one ) I just yanked a couple times , then with one hand applied constant pulling pressure while smacking the backside of the wheel with the other hand . It popped right up.
Don't completely remove the steering wheel retaining nut to prevent the wheel from ending up in your face [emoji16]
It's been a few years for me , I can't remember if marking the original location of everything helped. , But I did and had no issues .

Hope this helps !
