Hopefully posting in the right sub thread.

Ive got an 07 1500 5.7 4x4

Water pump seal is leaking good.

So fixing to replace waterpump and fan clutch

I'm going with the Gates 43501 waterpump. From yalls experience should I apply rtv along with the provided gasket or does the gasket hold up good?
Dont want to have it fail again. OEM pump at 174k mile .

Also what fan clutch should i run? Dont tow ever really and it's mainly used highway and some non aggressive mudding.
Was seeing if i need normal, heavy duty or severe.

Any advice is helpful.

If your existing fan is fine I would just reuse it. A mild dab of rtv never hurt. And by mild I mean just enough to make the gasket sticky. Don’t bead it on or it can get in the coolant.

What I initially thought. The waterpump itself is technically fine. But with the mileage on the truck I figured to change it. I was under the impression to change the clutch too since new pump.
