Has anyone replaced their factory led taillights with aftermarket led taillights? I bought a plug and play set and one is working, but gives me a bulb out message. The other one is barely lit. Maybe i just got a bad set?20180809_120543.jpg

You will need to add a resistor, since LEDs use a lot less power. That's why the truck thinks a light is out

Anyone know how to go about putting resistors in?
They splice in (clip) between the hot & ground wires to lamp, very easy to install. You want to secure the resistor to the sheetmetal via screws to help w/ heat dissipation, they get very hot. You don't want them flopping around & possibly melting something.

Suggest trying an Electronic LED Flasher Relay depending on the Ram you have. Splicing individual resistors can be a PITA. Additionally, check to see IF your truck has conventional or CK sockets which I believe have something to do with "newer" truck computer systems.

Just installed new LED signal "bulbs" into my '98 WITH an EP27 flasher relay that is LED capable. (It is a 5-pin relay). Let us know how it turns out. Love my LEDs.

My truck is a 2016 Ram Sport crew 1500. These aftermarket taillights plug has 3 pins, where my factory taillight plug has 4 pins. Below is a pic of my factory plug wiring. Do i tap into these wires?

Is it possible that the aftermarket set you bought is meant for a truck with stock incandescent tails and not LED?

I use this style. They are can-bus compatable. When I get home will see what brand they are. The “C” bar is tail/running light. The res LED is stop/turn.

Sorry op, gonna go squirrel for a minute.
You got a link for those? I dig those right there. Is that a true fiber optic c? And does it look bright white when off?

Correct, my truck has stock led taillights.

I just dont recall my plug looking like that but i could be wrong. Also the tube looks to be burnt out so maybe that is the cause of the bulb out error message. Do both aftermarket lights look the same when on?

These tailights are direct plug in for factory equipped led trucks. One taillight lights everything up, but the other is just barely lit. They were both shown to be workkng in the pics that were shown on Ebay. The seller has already refunded my money and told me to keep the lights. Not sure what brand they are, below is a pic of the 3 pin plug on the aftermarket tails. Factory has 4 pins.

Not sure who the manufacturer is. They were used, but showed working. The ebay seller has all kinds of auto lights for sale. They worked, but they were on a test bench.
