So, lately my AC has been deciding when and when it didn't want to work. So today it stopped again. I looked under the hood, and the whole can and all metal lines leading from it were covered in ice. This ice immediately started melting, but everything was white for a minute or so. What could cause these things?

No heat either. Bleh. It's too hot for this. Lol. The whole can immediately starts freezing if the AC is on and the trucks running. Nothing happens at all on accessory mode.

with home a/c units, it usually means the freon is low.

but I really don't know about the auto system.

Low freon could be the cause? Is your compressor short cycling?

Not sure. The compressor Pulley is still turning. And not sure why it's freezing it up.

You'd hear it if the compressor was doing it. I'd take it somewhere and have the freon level checked to make sure that isn't the problem first

Have you tried adding freon to the system?

The AC clutch fan is on. Full speed it feels like. Lol. Very temperamental. It's on now, then I turned off and on quickly. Turned off, did it again, worked again

Where is the low pressure port on my truck?

Is it the one on the black canister, or the one in front of and on top of the radiator?

IIRC, it's the one on your accumulator, the black canister near the firewall on the passenger. If you're adding the freon yourself, the hose will only fit over the low side port

So, reading through a Automotive maintenance book today, the symptoms of my AC seems to be a partially clogged condenser canister. The AC stopped working again today. I popped the hood, tapped the outlet line off the condenser with the end of a ratchet, and it started working again. So, my guess is something is in there getting in the right position sometimes to slightly clog it up.
