18 ram 1500 5.7 rebel. I had third brake light bulb go out. The dashboard gave me the warning though it said it was pass taillight... Well I still drove a few days before having the time to fix it and a variety of other warning lights came on, traction control warning, air suspension needs service and failed to work, and airbag warning. I replaced the third brake light and within about 2 hours all warning lights and air suspension warnings went away EXCEPT the airbag warning. I tried clearing code via OBD2. No errors/codes populated to clear. Disco battery, still no luck. Airbag light still on. Any ideas besides going to dealer?

That's the issue, there is no code. I have taken it to 3 different mechanics and none are pulling up anything. They are friends so they didn't charge me anything, but they are full mechanics and used multiple harnesses to the OBD2 and couldn't find a code to clear.

If you are seeing an airbag warning then there has to be a DTC that triggered the alert. I suggest that the OBD scan tools your friends used cannot scan all modules, which, in this case, is likely the restraints module.

I would not let this go, it may be painful to go to a dealer but an airbag warning is serious. Alternatively, you can get a darn good tool from Harbor Freight, the ICON T10. I've been watching YouTube's Eric O (South Main Auto) using the T10 and it is impressive for $1,600.00, I'm tempted to get one. $1,600 sounds like a lot but compared to how fast a dealership can rack up charges it could be a good deal.

How much time has elapsed since the last battery disconnect?

Fault C100C-00 for esc sensors failure. ORC module hardware failure... Weight sensor. This is per dealership. They quoted just under $1200 to fix. I know it could just be coincidence, but again this air bag light only came on after taillight out warning... Naturally I told them I'm going to pass for now on the repair... After looking at the paper they gave me. It's missing the needed info on part#, will get a hold of them to find it out and update it.

Have you inspected/re-seated the underseat harnesses?

Per dealership the sensors tested fine. Here is the part for the module.

Make sure the yellow plug under the seat is clicked in completely - when I did my seat swap, it was not fully seated, and had an airbag light on the dash until I went back under to fully click the plug- hoping its as simple as that for your sake

After you check the connector, try sitting in the seat and have someone start the pickup. You may just need to cycle it. That sensor effectively turns that airbag off if no one is in the passenger seat.

Unplugged and replugged everything under the seat. The air bag light flickered this time but still on. I also did battery disco again. Looks like it is indeed the module, will keep troubleshooting when I have time and update. Thanks for help everyone.

You can also open up the seat side and unplug and plug the airbag itself BUT do so with the battery disconnected and/or the harnesses under the seat disconnected.

Well it was worth a try - sorry it didn't work that is odd... keep us updated on the fix -

So weird that it happened after a brake light bulb went out - what bulb did you replace in the brake light?

Is the battery original? I've seen things in my wifes BMW when I can tell the battery is starting to go, random errors will pop up - If the battery is 6+ years old its not outside the realm of possibility.

It was the regular third brake light bulb, believe it was a 921LL. Battery is 2023, but I too am aware of the ghost glitches when batteries are dying.. will keep you posted. Just working a lot of over time so don't know when I can mess with it again. Will be a few weeks at least.

Well the battery should be good - something got fried or there is something else going on -

I assume the seat belt plug is fully connected as well if you checked everything (although I don't know why it wouldnt) - agree with @ SitKneelBend to try to reseat the actual airbag connection as well with battery disconnected or seat fully unplugged- and maybe the seat belt plug as well - this is odd...

Related experience while working on cars at Car Star not a Ram truck but I will pass this on anyway. You may have caused your truck to display the air bag light ,if you ever reconnected the battery with the ignition in the ON position. At the autobody shop every car that comes in gets the battery disconnected at one point or another.More than just a few times while reconnecting the cables, over the decades we accidently triggered the air bag light to come on.There is a generic code to use to turn the light off.If the air bag light is triggered for a legitimate reason (meaning a fault in the system),the light will not extinguish until the problem is corrected.I am not sure if this is how your airbag light was triggered but I am just letting you be aware of this,so you know.I think this is your problem because your air bag light did not trigger a code. Please note we learned about this from the dealership we brought the cars to when this would happen. They told us about it because we were paying $100. each time to get the air bag warning reset.Eventually they told us what we were doing wrong, that triggered issue.

.Do not know if that is what your problem is but ,iIt will extinguish if you enter the code (to extinguish it.)...Unplugging the battery and reconnecting it again may solve the issue. You can goggle the code from the internet .Hope it is your cure for your issue
