I have a 2018 Dodge Ram Diesel with an aisan transmissions that is shutering when it shifts into 2 gear. The Dodge dealer doesn't seem to know what to do . Does anyone know of a fix. They have put in the computer upgrade but that didn't help the shutter problem. Iam pulling a 10,000lb trailer.

I've seen many posts over the years about the Aisin shuttering. Seems to be partial solutions all over the map but I don't think anyone has ever resolved the shuttering, just reduced it. Since I don't have an Aisin, I also don't follow it closely.

One possible cause is the drive shaft isolator, it requires the entire driveshaft to be replaced.

If the Aisin is not reporting any trouble codes, is it possible you are experiencing converter unlock, transmission upshift, and a converter relock?

That is all I got.

I will assume you mean upshifts since you do not say. Also, I'll assume an automatic transmission, since you do not say. I would start off by running the truck through manual 1-2 shifts at different speeds and different engine RPMs, and differing loads (different acceleration rates) Make notes and add to this request for help. I wouldn't tell a doctor I have a headache without fillig in on details! He might watn to do brain surgery when all I need is new glasses!

Many different possibilities cross my mind. The subject might just be an NVH issue, not a transmission issue. (NVH= Noise, vibration, harshness)

There was a TSB for shuddering for 2018. Don't get your hopes up, though, as my 2019 shudders really badly mostly on the 2-3 upshift with our toy hauler hitched up. That is on top of all of the other clanging and banging mis-behavior that seems inherent to the Aisin. Mine has been reflashed at least twice. The last one reduced the violent 2-1 slip/slam false neutral downshift I get at slow speeds on a grade, but made the upshift shudder worse. It's a good thing they are a very durable transmission, as their driving behavior pretty mucks sux.

Mine is an older, as it is a 2014. It only has 18K miles though. But it just this last year, has started that shudder only when I attempt to accelerate from a stop.

It is probably not the transmission itself but rather the torque converter hooked up to it. Torque converter shudder tends to show itself or get worse as the transmissions fluid looses its viscosity. This may be one reason why the Aisin has a fluid change interval of 30k miles while the 68RFE is 120k since they both have different torque converters.

My truck has 24,000 on it now I bought it at 18,000 miles and it was doing it then I've had it in the shop 3 times now and they can't seem to figure it out I've heard of these Asian Transmissions having terrible shutter problems seems like after all these years Dodge can get their act together it supposed to be made in Japan I guess if I had ordered it new I would not put an Asian Transmission in it

Thank you for your feedback on the Asian transmission shutter I have had it in the shop three times I'm sure they check the converter the shop just doesn't seem to know what to do

It could also be trans fluid bypassing a valve body creating a high pressure/low pressure situation as the fluid loses pressure bypassing the valve body.

My 68RFE transmission in the 2500 CTD would shudder and shake between 3rd & 4th gear almost all the time. It felt like the transmission was cycling in a power on/power off condition. Dealer could not seem to figure it out even though it was in their shop 4 times.

A local diesel performance shop was very familar with the issue and installed a BD Diesel valve body block off plate. He also installed an ATS transmission support brace. According to him this shuddering shakes the transmission case so badly it can break where the main case and the tailshaft case bolt together.

I am not sure if these things are available for your transmission but it might be something to look into.

Results? Shuddering is much diminished, almost negligible even under high throttle input, and I have some peace of mind that I've done what I can. Oh, and I have a Mag HyTec transmission pan for some additional fluid capacity which helps with cooling the transmission.

Change the ATF fluid. If you have access to Cenex oil, use Maxtron Multi-Vehicle ATF Low Vis.
