So living in Montana in the winter is rough on my wheels.... Especially the rear wheels. they get stained and darker than the front and they get really really hard to clean!! Any of you know a good cleaner or rubbing compound i can use to get these clean and then is there a way to protect them in the future??

Ate they an aftermarket aluminum wheel?
Your best bet might be to get rogue polish and a buffing wheel come spring time and put a nice wax on them after

I have had great luck with a mothers powerball and their aluminum polish. Once you get them clean, you can either have them clearcoated, or apply multiple thick coats of wax on them to help protect the finish.

Use a sealant for your wheel protection. It handles the dust, heat and road grime MUCH better. I recommend Adams Quick Sealant. Check out Adams Polishes metal cleaner #1 & #2 if you want nearly chrome results. Amazing!
