So I want to make sure I am downloading the correct app. When I go to the app store it says alpha OBD is $50. I have searched and haven't seen anything said on cost.

Factor in the $ for a cable or Bluetooth adapter. You probably already have....

Will any ELM327 bluetooth adapter work with the app?

No.

You can review the list of compatible devices at https://alfaobd.com .

It can be a crap shoot with many of the less expensive ELM327 devices. They may read successfully but be unable to perform successful write operations.

There are several less expensive solutions versus the OBDLink MX+ that many prefer.
I use an OBDLink SX USB interface with my windoze PC.

I do have an older and inexpensive BAFX Bluetooth OBDII reader that functions correctly.
I don't know if they're still available.

I have the BAFX bluetooth OBDII as well as a few others, might be worth giving it a shot before buying another.

If you have a selection of OBD2 interface adapters available, you may as well give them a try.

I have only used the BAFX unit a few times and can't recall if it functioned successfully for everything I attempted.

I'm not a big fan of Bluetooth for much more than my PC mouse. I strongly prefer the OBDLink SX USB adapter, but I would guess that far more members are using Bluetooth for most vehicle apps.

AlfaOBD confirms each tweak immediately by announcing success or not, so you will know directly.

If you receive the notification of 'Not completed', for some tweaks and not others, chances are that your interface is showing its limitations.
