Hello Folks,

So I am going to put new tires on my new truck that currently has 1200 miles on it. Been doing a fair amount of reading in the lifted section but it appears much of the info is in regard to 1500 size trucks. My truck is a 2018 2500 6.4 CC 4x4 Laramie.

Not sure if I only need 5100 bilsteins at this point and tires or if I do indeed have to get spacers and new UCA's? I really only want to level up the front end in relation to the height of the bed and would like to run around a 35 sized tire. The 2500 seems to sit pretty high already.

Maybe I'm jumping the shark with the tires but have read that the factory Firestone tires suck on snow and will be doing a fair amount of snow driving in the coming weeks. the current rim is an 18x8 polished aluminum with Lt 275/70R18

Thanks,
CC

Sir your in luck .
Your truck has a different suspension up front than the 1500 series Rams . You would not level with the Bilsteins 5100
shock . All you need is a coil spacer kit up front ....an easy install compared to the 1500s [emoji16] oh and I believe your 2500 will fit 35s stock ...but it's spacers only up front for the level.
Hope this helps !

Thanks RLK. I hardly ever come out ahead on truck stuff but it appears I get to save some money and have an easy job this time.

Yes Sir !
To my knowledge your 2500 has a straight front axle ( much stronger ) set up . The 1500s have an independent front suspension . You don't have to work about the CV joint and front struts like the 1/2 tons .
The ride may not be quite as smooth but your 2500 isn't necessarily built for smooth first , it's built for toughness .
I wanted the more robust 2500 but could not justify the cost difference because everything I tow is less than 8k and typically under 100miles.

Post up some pics when done [emoji16]

I will. As my handle implies I'm a contractor and have always driven 2500-3500 model trucks, actually now that I think about it they have all been rams other then my first vehicle a 72 bronco.

I don't necessarily tow much and or often just a 20 foot Northriver seahawk. Bed payload is more critical to my needs and I routinely have 2-3k in the bed.

Cost wasn't a concern as it's a section 179 write off anyways. Really wanted a f250 with the 6.7 but after having 1 entire fuel system rebuild on my 5.9. That's not counting the new diesels with all the emissions junk it just didn't seem like a good plan for ME and my situation.

Finally done.... initially I had the fronts set to 2.1 but didn’t like it so I changed it to 2.8 and added a .75 TGC rear spacer. Then put some new 20x10’s on. Very happy with how it turned out. c9252f9a4281d054dcfdc51d2544938d.jpg

That looks nice ! I agree +2.8" with a small spacer in the back is the way to go [emoji106][emoji106]

Alright guys just finished putting the billsteins on the front with Mevotech UCA’s. They are set @2.8 giving me a perfect level all around. Measurements are 39.5 all around. I am unsure what to do with the back but enjoy the pics.IMG_2948.JPGIMG_2947.JPGIMG_2946.JPG

Nice level look for sure , you must've had quite a bit of rake ?

As for what to do to the back , that depends on you. If you tow & haul much maybe get a bit of rake back with a rear coil spacer 3/4" - 1.5" so while towing / hauling your not so nose high , or get stiffer rear coils or air bags for inside your OEM coils .. possibly a combination of the three above ... .lots of options .

I have potentially been toying with the idea of having the icon rear progressive coil put on but I don’t want too much of a rake, maybe an inch

If I were you .....I'd put on a 3/4" - 1" above the rear coil spacer ....I went with a 1.5" TGC Spacer ...I wish now I'd gone with a 1" spacer ...
Good luck !!

View attachment 122129 nice!

my fender flares make my wheel wells look empty lol

However this is mine on the side of a stock

Just wanted to confirm, this is set at 2.1? Looking through the thread I believe you said that. Of all the before and after pics I've looked through this one tells a great story for 2.1.

I have the icon rear coil on mine and what a difference it made. Ride quality was greatly improved and took most of the pogo stick effect out of it at freeway speeds
