Just ordered a set for my '18 1500 Laramie. I need them to enable me to get into the truck without wrecking my knee. They are being installed next thursday and I cant wait. Definitely AMP Research if you want power steps .

I definitely want to look into these as I had them on my 2500 before and loved them. They just gave the truck a clean look. Where did you get yours from? And how much if you don’t mind me asking?

I went with them for much the same reason - wife is disabled and these were the only ones that would drop low enough for her to use. I paid to have them installed and it was well worth it.

I never had them before, always thought they were too much money. When looking at trucks the dealer had a lifted truck on the lot that had AMP steps, my wife easily got in it. When we bought my truck she made me make an appointment 2 days later and get a set installed at a local truck shop. These steps have been great and I now realize they are worth every penny. I’ll never own another truck without them. I have had them for 14 months now without a single issue.

Yes. Completely. Any picture of a truck with no steps is just about exactly what you'll see with the steps stowed.

I love mine. Bought them with the OBD control option and installed myself. About a 5 hour install with a little grinding on the pinch welds and then touch up paint.

Yes. It simplifys the wiring portion. Just power to posative on battery and the neg to chassis ground. Then all step control functions are controlled by the ODB port plug which the Amps come with if you order them with that feature. If not, then you have to splice in wires manually to control the steps. I went the ODB plug option to lessen any chance of voiding my electrical portion of the vehicle warranty by splicing into wires.

Here's a pic of mine stowed. All you can see is about a 5/8" strip of black behind the pinch weld. They stow even better than the Amps that come on F-150 Platinums. My buddy has one and it doesn't retract under half as far. Ford puts a chrome strip on the edge to try and make it blend in. Looks silly I think.

They are really nice, they drop lower than a fixed step, very sturdy with a wide platform for your foot and they are lighted and when not in use the tuck away and look great.

The two led light pods are easier to see than the boards are.

Question for those who have installed them yourself. What did you use over the any holes you drilled or cuts you made to prevent rusting?
