So, as with most people that have had the power side steps, they failed on my truck (2022 2500HD Laramie) and I had them removed and fixed solid steps added in their place. Everything is fine except that every time I come to a stop I get a notification on the instrument panel that my side steps are inoperable and I need to get to a dealer. Every.....time.....I....stop.....or, just slow down below 5mph.

Truck has been at the dealer now going on 3 weeks. They have recharged my batteries for the third time in 5 months. They tested and determined there is a trickle drawdown on the batteries happening while parked. Seems when sitting my truck is every few minutes trying to find my power steps and tell me they are inoperable and to go to the dealer.

The dealer, working in conjunction with Dodge can not seem to figure out how to tell the computer to stop looking for the steps every few minutes and consequently running down my batteries.

Why is this so hard to do. I would have thought that by now with all the people dissatisfied with their power side steps and have had them removed that a simple coded patch would be available to enter into my computer in the truck so said truck can sleep soundly at night without the constant worrying, fretting and hand wringing about my missing power steps.

Any help I can pass along to the dealer would most appreciated, thanks.
