Ok, so I've read many of the cam threads out there and I still have questions...
My truck - 2004 5.7 Hemi quad cab 2wd - not a daily driver, looking for a street/strip fun truck. I want to start drag racing it at my local track but be able to fun cruise it around town. I live on an island where highest speed limit is 50mph, so no highway driving.
So I know I need a torquier cam because of more weight of the QC, which cam hits street/strip target on a canned tuned and which cam on a custom tune?
Is there a benefit of using gears and torque converter to get a mid range cam so I can still have low but mids are solid too?
Ultimately I wanted to do a budget build because I got the truck not running for $500 and only 100k miles. She runs great now after fixing wiring issues. But I don't mind spending some extra bucks to get it more responsive now. I would like some nice torquey 1/4 times.
TIA o and hello everyone, new here!
