Another check engine light ?

Recently acquired a 2005 Rumblebee and it has a check engine light with code catalytic converter problem. The truck has after market headers and no catalytic converters. Been by two speed shops and both say that the computer can be retuned or reset to by pass the code. One wants $495 and one wants $950. Will it hurt anything to just let it go and run with light on. I have a 2005 Tundra as well and the check engine light has been on for ten years with no problems.

If its a P0420/P0430 then no it won't hurt anything to drive it around with the light on

It will depend on what code it is throwing. Do you know what the code(s) are?
