I have checked other posts and couldn't find an answer.

Problem.
Parksense error came on (truck only has rear). Researched a lot and ended up replacing all 4 rear Parksense sensors.
Had problems getting it to recognize them but eventually got error to go away.

Fast forward a few hundred miles.
Parksense error message came back. Put it in reverse and error went away and they work. Put it in drive message comes back. Reverse, everything good.

Read that you can reset it by pressing and holding Parksense switch then turn the key to on and continue holding till beep.

Did that, problem still exists when in drive.

Never checked the wiring. All research pointed to the sensors as most likely. Replacing them did solve it, but now I have a slightly different problem. Truck isn't used a lot, 25k miles and no damages. Wiring was dusty but nothing of note.

I have never seen a pickup with only rear park sense. Are you sure the front bumper wasn't replaced at some point and the front sensors were not put back, or the new bumper didn't have holes for them?

Interesting. I hit a deer with 800 miles on the truck. The only damage was a dent in the front bumper. That was replaced by the body shop. I guess they put one in without sensors. But that was 27,000 miles and 5 years ago. I never noticed.

In the 1500s the '14 model years only have the rear sensors.
For 2017 HDs the fronts are optional although the Laramie and Limited trims both are standard

If it came with front sensors there should be a seperate button to turn off the rear and another to turn off the front, right by the tow haul button.

This is from my HD 2021 manual. Double click to expand picture so it is easier to read.

Ah, I bet it never had them. It was a basic 2500 (crew cab/long bed). It was expensive enough, didn't need the next level up.

Nope only a single button to turn off the rear. So I think that settles that. Except the ongoing problem of the message when driving.
Have a read through what the manual says about fixing error messages, hopefully it helps. Take a real close look with a good LED flashlight, something as small as a minor crease or a film of dirt on a sensor can cause error meesages.

Thanks. Will check. Strange that once I put it in reverse the error clears and they work. Until I put it back in drive. Sometimes it is immediate some times it takes a couple of minutes.
